Edgars and RCS Running a **** – Falsifying Account Information for Unjust Payments
I have been a loyal Edgars customer for 39 years, but what I’ve experienced recently feels like nothing short of a **** by Edgars and RCS.
In August 2023, I made the decision to close my Edgars account. I went to the store, spoke to the teller, paid the settlement, and was connected via phone to Edgars Head Office. The head office confirmed my full payment and account closure (these calls are recorded). I was also put through to The Club and Hollard to confirm the closure of those services. Everything was settled, and my account was officially closed.
For a full year, I received no services or communication from Edgars or any of its affiliates, confirming the account was properly closed. I also never received any invoices from Edgars throughout this entire period, which further confirms that my account was completely settled.
Then, in August 2024, the harassment started. I began receiving calls from RCS demanding payments for amounts I do not owe. First, they claimed I owed R600, then R200, and by 12 August, the amount jumped to R970. Now, they’ve sent me a letter demanding R1299. These amounts seem to come out of nowhere, and it’s clear that Edgars and RCS are falsifying account information to demand unjust payments.
This situation is especially stressful because I am currently unemployed and dealing with a health condition, which makes this constant harassment even more unbearable. Instead of focusing on my recovery, I am being bombarded by daily calls from different people at RCS, demanding money I do not owe. The stress they are adding to my life is seriously affecting my well-being.
When I visited Edgars, the cashier confirmed that I owe nothing and that my account was closed correctly. Despite this, the manager at the Cape Gate Edgars store had the audacity to simply push me off to RCS, even though I’ve followed all procedures and have nothing to do with RCS.
This feels like a deliberate ****, where Edgars and RCS are fabricating false amounts in an attempt to ****** money from vulnerable customers who have already settled their accounts. This is not just a mistake; it’s misleading, *********, and causing unnecessary stress to someone who should be focused on their health.
Edgars and RCS need to take responsibility for their administrative failures and stop harassing customers with fabricated claims and falsified amounts. If this doesn’t stop I will need to report them to ncc
