Edagrs Financial Services - Phone Missing

Hi All

I would like to share the bad exeprience with the Cellphone Insurance provided by Edgars.

On the 17th of September 2016 I accidently dropped my iPhone 5s which resulted in it cracking and opening. The phone was still working just its physical condition wasn't desirable.

So I went to my nearest Edgars as I had insured the phone with them for the maximum value possible of R8000.00.

On the 21st of September I went to Mall @ Reds Edgars store to book my phone in for repairs.

I was assisted by Thando and Olwethu at the Cellphone counter. I filled in the claims form and signed. A copy was made of the form and given to me. I then handed over my phone and was advised that I will be contacted in regards to my claim and that I could pop into any Edgars store, swipe my card and find out the progress of my claim.

Three weeks later and I was never contacted by any representatives from Edgars, so I decided to go to the Edgars store where I made the claim where I found Olwethu again.

I asked him about my phone and what was the verdict, he then took my card swiped it to check on the system and there was no claim processed. He then checked his physical file with all the claim forms in it and there was no claim form.

SO basically my phone was taken but theres no trace of such an occurance.

I then went home to get the copy of my claim form to show him that in deed I had brought in my phone for repairs. He then made a copy of my copy and told me he would contact me the following day with an update on the 19th of October 2016.

I was then called on the following day and was told that head office couldn't process my claim as they have an issue with the IMEI number I provided as mine starts with 35 and the norm according to them is that it should start with 06. I then had to verify the IMEI that in anycase was on the back of the phone in the first place and was told that I should have feedback soon.

I didnt receive any feedback so I went and visited the Edgars store again and was assisted by some lady who alternates shifts with Olwethu who I was then informed was the person I spoke to earlier when I was confriming the IMEI number. She then told me they are still waiting to hear from head office and she has sent them confirmation that the IMEI number that starts with 35 is correct and that Olwethu will contact me on the 21st of October with an update.

The 21st of October came and passed and no word from Olwethu.

I then went to the store again on the 22nd of October 2016 and found Olwethu and informed him of what the lady told me would happen that didn't happen.

He then check on the system again for my claim and still it wasnt there and when he checked for the copy of the copy he made of the claim form in his physical file, it wasnt there.

So yet again there was not trace of my phone ever being taken in for repairs.

He then asked Thando to assist him and we basically submitted another claim and I received a slip as proof of it being sent to the head office.

He then told me he would have feedback for me on the 24th of October 2016.

My question is where is my phone at the moment if it is not even reflecting on their system and my form keeps getting lost somehow.

If they've lost my phone or cant repair it then they must replace it with a phone to the value of R8000.00 as per the terms of the contract.
