Credit Card Deduction 6 months after purchase

I purchased items from Cresta Edgars on 21 May 2017 for approximately R900 which I paid with my credit card. On the 22nd of November a deduction was made for this amount on my credit card indicating Crown Mines in the description. I cancelled my credit card thinking it is a ********** transaction.

I had to pay R200 for statements for 6 months ago and further lost more than R800 in rewards from my bank and had the inconvenience of not having a card for two weeks. I wasn't expecting any more transactions and this amount nearly maxed my credit card which would have affected my credit rating.

I find it unacceptable that a company can back charge credit card transactions like this. The staff at the bank indicated that this has happened to other clients as well.
