Beware of 50% off sale prices
This is a general complaint regarding the poor pricing of Edgars during the recent 50% off sale. I noticed that a few barcodes had been scratched out with permanent marker and a new price placed over it which was more expensive than the original price. Therefore, the price is not really discounted at 50% of the original price. This is very sneaky by the Edcon group and undermines the intelligence of its customers.

Thank you for raising your apprehensions with us. Please be advised price increases were implemented well ahead of the Edgars promotional activities. Therefore the perception that price increases were implemented just prior to promotions, is incorrect and any confusion created was not all intended. To the contrary, Edgars saw it as beneficial to customers to be able to offer discounts for example 'half price' on key items), at a time when they are stretched. We will review our pricing process for the future.
