Being embarased in Edgars

Today I received a sms from Edgars advising that I have received 50 000 Thank you points that had to be spend by 13 November. Quite excited I went to Edgars in the Gallaria shopping mall in Amanzimtoti to make a purchase. At the till the lady asked me for my Thank You card and processed my purchased. I assumed that she had used my points as I was not asked. I signed for this purchase and realised that it was not used, I told her that I wanted to use my points as it was expiring in 2 days. She clicked her tongue and sighed with annoyance. The Credit Manager was standing next to her and told her how to resolve the matter and walked away. The next thing I had to sign for was the correct purchase with the points deducted. Whilst doing this she was talking to her colleagues and laughing - I really felt rediculed infront of everyone. I then told her that I had signed for 2 purchases but how do I know I have been refunded. She just told me she did. I said I wanted proof as I did not sign or was aware that a refund was processed. Still laughing and talking amogst her friends - she then got the slip out of her hand which was torn in half and scrumbled up. I am highly upset with the manner in which I have been treated and called the Credit Manager back again. She told me that the refund was processed and could sticky tape the receipt together. I was really not concerned about a slip that had to be taped - I was only concerned whether a refund was done as this was not shared with me. I am a Manager of a Retail store and oversee 55 staff - our staff have basic service standards of how customers should be treated. Do you have the same? I am not sure treating and laughing at a customer and not giving them receipts are part of your company ethos? Can't believe that customers are still treated this way if we are working for a Retail store where excellent service is the name of our game. At clicks when they swipe your rewards card they ask you whether you would like to utilise the points on your card. Maybe you should try this in the future to avoid this frustrating happening to other customers. I am advised that they do not ask - you must tell them. Unfortunately I was not even given the option. No proactiveness here. Really upset!
