BAD ATTITUDE & BAD PRACTICES DON'T WIN CUSTOMERS
Last Thursday afternoon I took 2 sale items, together valued at R150, to the pay counter in order to buy them on my account. I tendered my account card, which was rejected. After some enquiries, the staff member told me my account had been blocked because I hadn't used it in the past 6 months. Apart from the fact that no one notified me of any impending account block, this practice should be contrary to customer protection as it encourages people to buy goods when they don't actually need anything in order to keep the account open and aggravates the problem of overspending.

I was handed over on the phone to a young man who, on learning of my annoyance, proceeded to shriek with mirth for at least a minute. He then asked me various questions, including my bank details which I'm NOT obliged to give unless paying by debit order. My info also indicated that the gap between my income and expenditure is R10 000. My re-application was submitted and some time later he came back and told me that it had been rejected. If R10 000 isn't suficient to sustain a small clothing account then half Edgars must have ******* accounts! I believe this was done out of spite. Please investigate.
