Good day Annemarie
I just wanted to let you know what’s happening with my situation at Edenvale Hospital.
Firstly I am really great full that the casualty and ward nurses looked after me. They looked after me very well.
The problem is this. I broke my tibia on the 4th March 2020. I was in ward 5 for 3 days and doctor younnis decided that I don’t need surgery.
I have been going back monthly for check ups. My 3 month check up the younger doctor told me I will need surgery as the fibula is still in tact and is causing the tibia not to heal. I was there last week on the 29th June and was advised again that I need surgery and this was written on my file.
I went there today and the older doctor told me I needed surgery and showed my x ray to dr. Younnis who again advised no surgery.
The other doctor then asked me if I have medical aid as it would be better so I can have the surgery done as dr younnis who is his boss said no.
The other surprising comment the younger doctor told me a while back is that I didn’t get the surgery cause they want to save money. I found this very disturbing.
I went to a private surgeon after I left the hospital where they done an x ray and advised me that I would definitely need surgery. I wish I had the money to do this at a private hospital as recommended by the other doctor today.
I just find it disturbing that after 5 months being told by your other surgeons that I need surgery I am still where I started on the 4th March.
I am not a person to complain but it’s 5 months and now affecting my job.
I will be going to the media with this and if there is any complications with regards to my situation I will be taking this matter further.
I just wanted to let you know what is happening at your hospital. My file number is 757117
Hope to hear back from you
