Edenvale hospital is Disgusting. ABUSE AND NEGLECT

If it were even possible, I would not even be giving this one star rating.

My aunt was admitted to the Edenvale hospital on the 4th April for vomiting and not being able to breath properly- she does in-fact have a lung condition (emphysema) which is treated with medications and is permanently on oxygen.

They did the covid test before moving her which in-fact was negative and she was placed in a normal ward. This was the last contact we had them until the weekend that has just passed.

on Wednesday the 7th April 2021 they decided to test her again for Covid and results came back POSTIVE? God knows how she picked it up if all patients and nurses are meant to have PPE on and do the necessary screening and tests before moving or admitting patients. With yet again no response from any hospital line called- no one answered.

I phoned my aunt on Friday and had a nurse answer her phone who told me that that they are busy bathing her and that I should phone again later to speak to her. I managed to get a number from this nurse which was for the ward she was currently in.

I phoned the number given in hope to get some information and a sister answered telling me to please phone when the doctor is in and they will update me. (Now how do I know when the doctor will be in if they dont )

On Saturday my cousin phoned my aunt and she finally answered: she told her the nurses physically hit her cause she has made an accident in her underwear ( FIRSTLY: She is WEAK, SHE CANNOT BREATH ,YET ALONE WALK TO THE BATHROOM AND BACK? She is 64 years old and only weighs 36kg. She is a frail, elderly woman and she got physically slapped in the face for unintentionally messing the bed and that its not the NURSES JOB TO CLEAN UP AFTER HER. (If she is unable to walk cause she is so weak surely she should be in high care where they wear nappies and have staff attending to them 24/7.

That Saturday afternoon my cousin decides shes going to go in visiting hours to see her and when she got there is was the first time that she had been informed that my aunt now has Covid and she is in a isolation ward, she managed to see her and get a little more information out of her about what happened whilst her being in their care. She also didn't know why they moved her and why no one would help her.

At this point I am desperate and cant seem to get any help from anyone working at the hospital. I've decided I'll be finding any possible route to take this matter further not only for her but for anyone else who doesn't have the strength to fight or for anyone else who ends up being admitted there.
