Very bad service or rather lack of service

Good day,

I am sure this will probably not make a difference but it's worth a try none the less.

On Thursday 20th January 2017 at 18:20, I arrived at Edenvale hospital with my 2 daughters. My one year old daughter and my 11 year old.
Upon our arrival, as per procedure we sat in queue to collect the files. my 1 year old has a file but my 11 year old didn't have one. When I get to the counter,
I tell the gentleman that both my daughters are sick, the one has a file and I need to open a file for the other. He tells me, he is only dealing with giving out the files
he will give me the file for the baby, once am done with the baby I must come back to open the file for the older daughter. As much as it didn't make sense, I did not dispute it. I proceeded to take my baby to room C24. My baby had tonsils as well as bad fever, please understand that this is a one year old. I decide to leave the baby in the queue with my helper, went back to information to now open the file for the old one, 45 minutes later, we join my helper and my one year old in the queue, mind you during the 45 minutes that we were waiting to open the file for my daughter, the queue for C24 was as it was before I left, the nurse was no where to be seen. 45 minutes later, still no nurse in site.

Fast forward, 2 hours later my girls and I finally get into the room to be assisted by the nurse. she checks them and then boom the machine does not work.
We spend 20 minutes in the trying to figure out what is going on with the temperature machine. She leaves us in the room and goes fetch another machine. Comes back, it works when she checks the young one and stops working when it's time to check the older one. Another 20 minutes of turning this machine one and off in the hope to make it " work". She eventually decides that we should to the green room, and use the machine there. which we do and both girls have had their temperature and what ever else checked and it's now time to go queue to see the doctor.

During this whole time in the nurse's room and waiting for the machine, there is no doctor in site. It's now after 9 pm. both my daughters are weak. We have no choice but to sit in the queue. There were no more than 5 people in front of us. We are all sitting there hoping the doctor will eventually show up. My big girls is way too weak and tired. Nobody cares, she goes to sleep in the waiting area. The nurse comes to me after 10 pm, with panado to give to my small one for her fever. Thank you nurse. As we still sit there and wait on the doctor to show up. One of the other patient's relative, goes to one of the male nurses and asked him, where is the doctor and what time will he be attending to the patients. I was right behind him and the male nurse answered him. The doctor will be here but I cannot tell you what time...

The time is now 11:30 pm, still no doctor in site. I have panado at home. my daughter has tonsils, my other daughter is feeling hot and cold, not sure what the problem is. We have been here for 6 hours. No doctor in site. up until I decided to just take my girls back home at midnight, there was still no doctor in site. Should I have decided to stick around, I am sure we would have left at 6 am...

The slogan says, people first. All the mission statements say the right things but done of them are practiced...

Please be considerate of the people who walk into your hospital. Not having medical aid does not make a person less human than the one that has...

Regards,
Binta Kabwiz
