Weeks of chasing 'paid up letter' to NO AVAIL !!

For more than 8 weeks, Ive been trying to get a 'paid up letter' for an account closed more than 3 years ago while I was under debt counseling. I have been sent from Edcon to various collection companies, none of which had the account on record. Im at my boiling point now, and no one appears to be able to assist me and neither does anyone even attempt to offer me guidance. This is such poor service I am not surprised about the state of Edcon if this is how you choose to do business.
