Unhappy with Edcon handover process

I am not happy with how Edcon handles their accounts. I was never informed of my account being handed over. One can never get hold of them to make arrangements. Due to temporary unemployment I was unable to keep up with payments. My account was cancelled but the interest accumulates. Now how is that fair when I am failing to receive or make communication? I would have made arrangements to settle my arrears MONTHS ago. My credit history reflects poorly over this. I am not impressed at all. This is last resort but a resort nonetheless. Can something be done
