******* into taking up insurance policy

Went to Cosmo City Jet sometime last week to have my account details updated and my Jet Club membership cancelled. A lady wearing a NCR badge assisted me. Checked my card and told me that l had many financial service subscriptions on my card including Jet Club Membership, Edgars Club Membership, Service Fee, Account Protection Plan and ... i can't remember the other, it was my first to hear about it. That really shocked me because l get monthly statements and l never saw the other things she mentioned on my statement. Shocked l assumed those things had been recently added onto my statement since there wast a lady at the same store who had asked to check what services l had and asked if l would want a funeral plan which l declined. I then suspected that she might have added those other services onto my account without discussing it with me first but then just asked the lady who was helping me to cancel all those subscriptions and only leave the compulsory ones. She confirmed that service fee and Account protection fee were compulsory so l said that was fine l would remain only with those two. She called the head office and explained that l wanted all financial services cancelled. To my surprise, she made me sign something which stated that l was taking up a policy, l asked her why l had to sign then when l was actually getting financial services cancelled and not added. She said l had to sign it still because l was having the services cancelled even said "Ah i don't understand why clients always complain about this". I hesitantly signed. Afew days letter l got policy documents from Edcon confirming that l had taken up a policy and my suspicions were confirmed. I pay my account well and l feel l am being taken advantage of because of that. Why do l have to be cheated into signing up for policies that l don't need. These NCR people may be getting paid on commission which might be a challenge for them but they should convince people to take up policies not ***** them into doing so.
