Pathetic customer service
Their service and head office staff really not helpful at all. They dont attend to you queries and don't follow up too. The is a manager by the name of Tilla Pieters she is very rude insensitive and have a heart of stone. They owe me R9000 and they are avoiding my calls and not responding to my emails. Their contact center is not helpful at all.

27 Sept 2019, 00:44Thank you Hello Peter for your assistance. I got a response for the first time from Edcon after 6 years. Here is their response. They claim that they responded to me multiple times. They say sectoral determination allow them to recover loss due to fault of employee. They say they made me aware 3 months before retrenchment of a deduction. They say that I was contacting the wrong contacts center as the contact center closed in 2006.They finally say that due to the fact that it is over 6 years they can not recover the money from the account holder which is an ex employee who was paid due to my negligence as a result this matter is closed and they can not pay me.
After seeking legal advice I discovered that as per Section 37D of the Pension Funds Act,They they can only deduct from my retirement fund benefit- housing loan granted by fund or employer - Pension interests awarded to former spouses on divorce - maitanace claim awarded against the member and fund- Damages due to an employer caused by a member's misconduct and lastly amounts specifically approved by the registrar.
Section 37D clearly states that there must be damages suffered by the employer as a result of employee's misconduct. Misconduct in this case must include an element of dishonesty by employee. In this instance negligence by employee will not suffice.
All this long story is proof that Edcon had no right to deduct money from my money that is why they have been avoiding me. I tried following up on the email they sent today but as usual they did not respond to me. If they want to insist on not paying back the money they will learn the hard way because I will not rest until the mighty Edcon do what is right.
