No Thank U Edcon-30 cents showing after spending R2698,00

I made 4 purchases on the 17th February 2019 in Sandton City during the recent buy one get one free Edcon Promotion. Two of the purchases were at Calvin Klein for a total of R2248,00 and two at Edgars for a total of R450,00. Altogether i spent R2698,00.

I noticed the my Thank u points balance did not seem to be updated on the Calvin Klien slips. I called the call centre, selected the option for Thank U points, spoke to a consultant and explained what the query was. The consultant put me on hold. Close to seven minutes after beginning the call i was still holding . I put the phone down and called back. This time i spoke to Mbali who listened to what i had to say and then put me on hold. Seven minutes later i put down and called back. This time Anke answered the phone and asked what the query was. I am certain that she was the person i spoke to initially but she denied it. I asked to speak to Mbali but was told that she was busy. Anke wanted me to explain everything again for a third time but i refused.

Later i spoke to Joseph and asked to speak to a Manager or Supervisor but according to Joseph they were not available. He took my details and promised me faithfully that a Manager would call me back the same day. I am still waiting for that call 11 days later.

I then went on the Edgars Website and logged a complaint. I was eventually contacted by Angel Mboweni who tried to tell me that one did not get points on everything one bought. She said that she had escalated the issue to Management and was awaiting a response. She also sent me some terms and conditons.

I had to go to Edgars Eastgate on Saturday 23rd February 2019 to sort out some alterations. When i was passing customer service i noticed that one wall had a large adverti*****t for Thank u points and listed all the outlets at which one could earn points. The last outlet listed was Calvin Klein.

There was a small section where two ladies were helping people with Thank u points queries. One of them came over to customer service and started chatting to me. She was kind enough to check the points available on my Thank U card and told me i had 30 cents. (So I spent R2698.00 the previous week in Sandton to earn 30 cents).

I asked her about the advert on the wall and she confirmed that points would be earned at all these outlets.

I refrained from spending at this store (would probably have spent as much as at Sandton) but have decided not to support Edcon until this is resolved if ever. Very probably Edcon have lost this customer

Perhaps Edcon should repaint the wall at Eastgate and retrain their staff.

The Thank U points that you owe me will make no difference in my life -so keep them. I think that you need them more than i do. Please send your account number so that i can refund the 30 cents.

I have decided that i no longer wish to keep the items i purchased from what i consider to be a totally dishonest and ********* company. I have returned some of the items purchased to Edgars Eastgate on Saturday 2nd March 2019 and have been refunded. Other items i will return to Sandton on the 09th March 2019 as they are not stocked by Eastgate. Items i have used i will donate to the Hospice. When they were doing the refund Edgars Eastgate asked for my Thank u card so that they can reverse the points earned. I found this very funny. I spent R2698,00 at Sandton and received 30 cents back on my Thank u card so i earned approx 1 cent for every R90.00 spent. The goods i returned were valued at R200,00 so Edgars recovered approx 2 cents worth. I still owe them 28 cents. I am awaiting their banking details so that i can refund them. On a lighter note someone at Edgars called Dudu Mncube sent me an sms asking me on a scale of one to ten how likely i would be to recommend Edgars to a friend. Dudu - I can assure you that you do not want to hear my response.

Edcon has not sent me their banking details so that i can pay them the 28 cents of Thank U points i owe them. I will instead send the refund to their CEO's office with an explanatory note. I also intend to refer the matter to the Advertising Standards Authority as i view the matter as a clear case of false advertising.
