********** transaction processed on my account by an Edgars MANAGER

On 1 August 2016 I submitted the following complaint to Edcon regarding a ********** transaction that was processed on my account by the store manager after I left the goods at the store and still to date I have had no constructive response and the transaction has not been removed from my account:

To whom this may concern,

I would like to express my deepest disappointment in the Edgars store in the Mooiriver Mall in Potchefstroom. It was the absolute worst experience that I have EVER had in ANY store. I have had an account at Edgars for many years and if it was not for this or the fact that I do not live in Potchefstroom, I would have actually closed my account and never put another foot in an Edgars store again.

I attempted to buy two jeans for my husband at the above mentioned store on Saturday 30 July 2016. Edgars advertised a special to buy two selected Guess or Levi jeans for R800. I chose two jeans from the specially marked rails and went to pay for it. At this time, I saw that the amount on my account came to R1200.00, instead of R800.00. The clerk asked If I chose the jeans from the specially marked sections when I asked about this before signing it to my account. My reply was yes and he went to the floor and called the manager. The manager was the most arrogant person I have ever dealt with at any store and told me he can’t be held responsible for clients moving jeans from another section to the specially marked rails. If this was the case, it is quite understandable, but he could not give me an answer that made any sense as to why two whole rail of the same jeans were in the specially marked section. Upon indicating that I cannot understand how a customer moved a whole rail full of the same jeans, he indicated that I do not know how to read and that it is only jeans that is marked R549.00 each that is on special and of which two can be bought for R800.00. I was totally shocked and told him to take his jeans and shove it where the sun doesn’t shine. (I must say that my words were not as polite as I have never been so provoked in my life. He was one of the most arrogant people I have EVER dealt with and I cannot believe that this person can work with clients in any store, let alone be a manager as he had an absolute lack of any tack or people s****s with NO respect for me as a client)

To say the least, the special indicated that you save R549.00 when buying two Guess or Levi jeans, and not that this had to be the original price of the jeans bought as he indicated to me. On Sunday 31 July, I got the same special in Johannesburg without any problem whatsoever and the original price of each jean was R699.00.

The one friend who I visited in Potchefstroom told me that her sister and her boyfriend had the exact same experience with an arrogant manager at the Mooiriver Mall store and that they refuse to go back to the store. I think that this is a very bad reflection on the Edcon group as a whole and that this is a serious problem that will need to be addressed to ensure the future success of the specific store. Every client with a bad experience might not complain, as they will probably just revert to another store to fulfil their needs.

I would like to request an updated statement on my account, as I am not sure if payment on my account from last week has just not been allocated to my account yet or if the R1200 from the jeans that I attempted to buy on 30 July 2016 were added and not reversed from my account. I never signed for the sale as I queried the amount before signature and I was so shocked and annoyed with the service, that I just walked out of the store without my card. I only went back to collect my card later and left the store asap. Please be so kind to look into the matter and ensure that no sale from 30 July 2016 reflects on my account.

Kind Regards

A very dissapointed Charlotte Theunissen

I have followed up on email and called to speak to a manager numerously. One one of my calls I received feedback last week that a manager will call me back, still with no reaction. I am furious that a company that I have supported extremely well over the past more than a decade has absolutely no interest in a problem that was caused by a store manager! I will be closing this account and never support any Edcon stores EVER AGAIN.
