Edcons lies to customers

On Friday 26 may 2016 I visited the Jet store in Cresta Shopping Centre with the aim of purchasing a birthday gift for a child. While browsing I was approached by a shop steward (lebo) who told me if I opened an account she would give me a R500 voucher. I,ve never seen the need for a clothing account, but as i had time to **** I thought why not especially because of the incentive. I then gathathered all information from the baks etc. that was reqired and after 1.5 hours was told everything was approved. However in order to activate the account I would have to make a purchase. This I did and after the goods were rung up I asked for my R500 voucher. The lady at the till then proceeded to tell me this was a mistake - there is no voucher. I approached the manager who also apologised for the" mistake.' Obviously annoyed, I said I would take the matter further. Although I have a reference No. from complaints at Edcon HO there has been no response, and the call centre can only escalate. No manager/director will take a call. I was told the manager of the store tried to contact me on Friday ... this was another lie as I have no missed calls over this period. Is this a new way for a public company to try and solicit new clients or a follow up to the Edgars club debacle????????????

Reviewer Update

I lodged a complaint with Edcon Customer experience on Friday 26 May. Since then I have heard nothing despite the matter being 'escalated' - still nothing. I was promised the regional manager would be in touch with me - again nothing.

Yesterday I found out 3 Insurance polocies had been activated in my name including a funeral policy, I did not sign or ask for any of these. I contacted Edgars on the number provided in the SMS and enquired how these policies were opened up in my name. The lady told me that I would have agreed to these when I opened up the policy which I certainly did not.I have insurance that covers all of these policies. I was promised they would get back to me yesterterday (30/05/17) -again no response.

I refer to the above Edcon response ......What high standards of service do you offer to your customers????? There is NO service.

This looks like another underhanded way of soliciting business by Edcon . Certainly not the way a public company should act.
