Default Listing after 10 years

I was an employee of Edcon from 2007 to 2009 and resigned. In my time of employment I had a staff account which I was told will be settled and I will not be able to transact on the account when I left employment at Edcon

I even enquired in store if my staff account was closed after I finished at Edcon. I even had a letter stating that my account was closed and only the Lord knows where that piece of paper is after 9 years.

I then received a call from MBD attorneys in July 2016 saying that I owed R6000+ on my Edgars account. Keep in mind this is account that was supposedly settled almost 10 years ago. Even though I explained this story to MBD they asked me to log a dispute with Edgars.

I then called the call centre and I was advised to go to the store and fill in a dispute form which I did on 27 August 2016 at the Zevenwacht Mall branch.

I was advised that my dispute will sent to H/O and I would receive feedback from them. Still today no feedback and I haven't received calls from MBD after this.

Just to find out after 9 years Edgars/Edcon placed a default on my credit records.

All of this sounds fishy to me. Please sort this out because according to my knowledge and I am certain about the fact that this account was settled when I left the employment at Edcon and I have no intention of paying money I already paid using my provident fund almost 10 years ago.

AlI want is for this thing to be resolved as this is a unwelcomed stress that I do not need.

Please remove the default listing for my credit records and find out by HR what happened. I do not know what else to do.
