BANKRUPT EDCON RUNNING **** ON CONSUMER ACCOUNTS

In November 2018, I was totally surprised to receive my Statement from Edgars, My account was sitting at an exorbitant amount.. Lucky for me, my balance was R484 and I called into to query strange amounts on my statement. I called head office, to my surprise, I was supposedly purchasing airtime on my Edgars Account. I queried as to who activated this and they said it was me. After several phone calls, I had to do an affidavit and fill in a dispute form. Here's the thing, I was charged for airtime e.g. 25 Oct 18 - was charged R61.50 for airtime, and the beauty of it was it was charged ten times. Why would an educated individual such as I, do that, if I can purchase R600 airtime straight if the need arises. I am employed and have no use for that amount of airtime. I have a contract with Cell C and use my FNB App to purchase airtime. Edcon stated it was bought virtually and they could not see which number it went to. Then after a few weeks they conveniently stated that it was purchased from my MTN Number. They had that number on their system for many years and thought they will pass the buck! They carried n with that story. Eventually I decided to use my trump card: My MTN Sim was removed from my phone on the 22 Oct 2018, when I dropped my phone. The sim was kept in my safe at home and could not be used because it was old and not a nano or micro sim. As most people know New phones take Nano and Micro Sims. I was not going to look for phone to accommodate that big old sim card! And the airtime purchases started on the 25 October 2018! so far R2000 of airtime was bought on my account. Whilst doing my affidavit at the SAPS, I found out that many cases were like mine iro Edcon. So I mentioned that to them. In the Newspaper and on Social Media, rumours of Edcon going bankrupt are circulating. An article in the Witness for December 2018, tells the story of an airtime contract being taken on a ladys account by Edcon without her consent and she was charged for airtime she never received. Another friend of MIne is a huge customer and her instalment is R1000 every month and the 25'th of every month she goes in pays her account religiously. Thank the Good Lord, for giving her the wisdom to retain her payment slips. Every month they not reconciling her payment to her account and her balance remains the same. So every month since last year November, she has to go into a store to sort that out. My case is still under investigation and I will not being for airtime I have not purchased. Consumers beware of this **** and keep all your proof of payment and check your monthly statements.
