Account nightmare

My sister opened an Edgars account more than 2 years ago and took the account protection plan in case of some unforeseeable future occurence. Sadly her employment contract was not renewed early last year and she has been unemployed for over a year. She went to one of the stores to notify customer care that she is unemployed and was under the impression that the account protection plan, of which the premium was faithfully deducted every month until now even, would settle the account since she is not in a position to do so. After getting yet another statement earlier this year she went to enquire and was told that the account protection plan only apply for people who are permanently employed or who died whilst having an Edcon account. The consultants and customer care are not willing to assist and only demand that the account be paid or a payment plan be entered into. How can you enter into a payment plan if you are unemployed and don't even know when a job opportunity is going to present itself? Why was she paying an insurance premium every month to cover her in the event of being unemployed if Edcon/Jet knew that she doesn't qualify for the benefit? Every month interest is accruing on the account and no one is willing to assist. I need this matter to be resolved a.s.a.p because this is someone's future that is at stake. I await your urgent response.

Best regards,
Thank you for the feedback. She has been to the store and was told that the benefit does not apply to her because she was on contract and not permanently employed. Edcon knew she was a contract worker when the account was opened and now there are excuses when they must do their part to settle the account. Today still, an asms was received requesting immediate payment when Edcon has been notified about the sitation of unemployment. How are you going to resolve this?
