no refund on Cancelation

I recently made an accomodation booking through bookings.com only to cancel that very same day....It is four months later and i have still not recieved the R6500 that was taken off my credit card straight away, even though i was made to understand the booking would only be charged when accomodation was confirmed on arrival. please if there is anyone that can help me get a refund, this was a company transaction and i am held responsible for this amount, i need not even say thats more than my salary a month:(
