EcoElite disappointing business

Rocketing electricity costs drove me to look at reducing energy consumption. Thinking my pool motor would be a good point to start I contacted the pool motor agent who said they did have a solar option. 5 x 315W panels plus controller R19,500 excluding installation and associated materials (estimated R8000) The consultant also recommended I contact Phillip Pieterse (Eco Elite) who might also offer a solution (wider than just pool) I contacted Phillip who promptly emailed me a solution which included panels, inverter, online monitoring, throttling, materials and installation with cost in region R23,000 excl. He arranged to contact me two days later to set up an appointment. Phillip never contacted me so I again contacted him a further two days later. I asked for solar configuration estimated in his email which he gave as 6 x 450W panels and 3KW inverter. I Whattsapp’d Phillip confirming these details and a site visit was set up for next day. Philip contacted me and cancelled site visit due to urgent fault on one of his very large sites. Two days later a site visit was set up. Site visit happened and Phillip undertook to send me a proposal and do a simulation on the solar solution. Two days later I followed up on progress. Phillip said he would send a proposal shortly, waiting on supplier stock details. Two days later Phillip stated supplier had stock he had been on the road would send proposal that day. Five days later still no proposal. Phillip said he was back in the office proposal would be sent that day. Three days later no proposal again, so I then suggested to him perhaps he was no longer interested. Five days later (weekend and a holiday) proposal at last arrived. 6 X 300W panels 3KW inverter excluded online monitor R35,307 incl vat. So price had gone up about R6000, config reduced from 2700KW to 1800KW and online monitor now excluded. Queried how proposal was related to original email. Phillip said original config had limitations (solar panel prices had increased 16%, original config was only 1500KW inverter etc etc which was ******* as I had confirmed original config by Whattsapp). Delay in proposal was because two technicians were isolating (Covid). I asked Phillip to adjust quote from 6 to 10 panels. 4 days later nothing again. I had thought the original config price was too good (that is why I whatsapp’d confirmation) and would have accepted some reasonable adjustment. But the way whole episode was done has forced me to walk away.

I asked Phillip to drop my solar enquiry as this was not the way I do business and if this was indicative of his response what could I expect after installation. Phillip apologised saying they had been exceptionally busy I see only one “GLOWING” post for Eco Lite on Hello Peter. Perhaps Phillip technical side is really outstanding. So I have been trying to get a proposal for over a month. Very surprising considering his LINKEDIN profile: Certificate in Bussiness Project Management Project Management NQF Level 7
