Refusing refund in accordance with consumer protection act
Purchased 2 vehicles on 3 November 2017. On the way home the oil light on the Triton came on we stopped and checked the oil and immediately phoned Ricardo(salesman) in this regard. On Saturday morning we took the triton to have the exhaust checked we were then informed that the exhaust was blocked and needed replacing. Monday morning we took the car in to have the shocks checked as it felt loose on the road and were informed that the right front shock was dead and we had to replace the front shocks. At the same time we were informed that the propshaft needed to be reconditioned. We contacted the dealer in all these regards. On the same purchase was a Polo, the first item that broke was an electronic part that we replaced, then the left hand mirror fell off and the car does not want to go in to gear. We serviced the cars on 7 November 2017 and saw that there is oil in the air pipe of the Triton. On 8 November 2017 we notified the dealer that we will be cancelling the purchase contract and they informed us on 09 November 2017 that they would not refund the cars as due to the age of the cars and due to us taking to long to report the problems on the cars (even though we are with in the 5 working day limit according to the consumer protection act) the act also allows 6 months for faulty goods to be returned which is also being ignored and the act also clearly states that a consumer has the right to quality goods which these two vehicles clearly are not. I would strongly advise against this dealer
