Continued delay on final payment of R10,000 on Claim ECLM***

There is a specificity I'm willing to entertain in regards to contractual agreements especially when it comes to Insurance. But it appears as though the Echelon modus operandi is to obfuscate and frustrate a client's claim.

As per the above-mentioned, your company's nominated assessment team and it's associated 'preferred' companies damaged my ornamental Italian sculpted rooster beyond repair. It's a one of a kind piece, that my hard earned Rands purchased and in all the trust extended in insurance at play (not withstanding the damage from the flood for which I was insured yet was put through hoops of bureaucracy with companies that have about as much as professionalism and experience as a municipal worker), I now am being obliged to play a game of 'dodge and dive' between broker and assessor without a completed claim payment in near sight.

The bottom line is that I have no say as to who is nominated at first for the repairs applicable to my flood claim but to make matters worse they damage my goods in my house due to their negligence. In so far as where the buck stops, it's with Echelon!

I don't have to follow these payments around when they are app**** to the payment indemnity form as per legal specification. And still to date it has been withheld and to compound matters, I am being told by my broker (TRAFFORD CONSULTING) to 'claim again'. So, I as a client must suffer further prejudice in a further increase in premiums for damage incurred by Echelon's preferred repairers or alleged experts? And on the point of 'experts', CHILDREN (that is nephews of assessors -> WATTRUS CONSULTING SERVICE (PTY) LTD, should not be used to substitute for professional assessment of flood damage of clients) and so-called 'french polishers' should not be brought in to when SAQA certified carpenters should be employed instead. Nor should ‘local Persian’ rug experts when it would be cheaper to fly the professionals in from Johannesburg!

This entire process and alleged protection of the value of my home items has been reduced to a bad joke. At this stage, other than your needed apology, kindly get this matter concluded with the final payout of R10,000.00 in the next 48 hours.

The best I can suggest right now is get your house in order as client’s like myself who PREPAY their entire year’s premiums are getting to be few and far between in our present South African economic reality and so will Insurance companies that don’t do their jobs!

Dear kaykate,
We have received feedback from your broker, our Loss Adjustor and the service provider of the Persian carpet.
We understand while taking measurements for the carpet, that one of the workers accidentally knocked over your precious vase.
Whilst we understand that this doesn't replace it's sentimentality or rarity, we have been advised that they have accepted full responsibility for the incident and confirmed that they would have the item valued and reimburse you in full.
According to the information we have at hand, they tried to contact you on Friday and Sa****ay on your cell number, to no avail. Our Loss Adjustor advised that they contacted you and obtained an alternate number. As far as we are aware, the owner of the carpet supplier has been in contact and made the necessary arrangements with you.
Please could you confirm that this matter has been resolved to your satisfaction.
Kind Regards,
Echelon Private Client Insurance
Tammy confirmed, the client just responded on the email with alternative contact number and Thiran will now call her as he could not reach her. They will get the item valued and pay client accordingly.

Thank you kindly for the response and attention to this matter. However there are clear facts that are being overlooked herein:
(a) The damage was to an 'Italian Rooster' and not a 'precious vase' as noted in your response
(b) The completed claim form: ECLM ********** 9/294 has a clear clause No: 7 -> The offer is accepted subject to the deduction of value to loss suffered by myself when a staff member of Persian Charm broke an ornament "Italian Rooster" gold plated to the value of R10,000.00
Since then, the contractual obligation to which Echelon Insurance has agreed to via their agents, has rendered a shortfall of payment of R10,000.00 which was signed on 5 May 2016 and whose payment has yet to be completed.
As much as this feigned concern in getting the matter sorted between agent and approved repairer may go, set concern is not mine rather payment is due from Echelon Insurance.
Kindly get this sorted prior to the opening of a formal complaint with the Ombudsman for Short Term Insurance who will be obligated to render a corrective solution with penalty.
I trust you find the above-mentioned in order
