Poor and Unprofessional Service by Ebernezer Removals & Logistics

On 26 August 2019 I received a quotation from Ebenezer Removals & Logistics for transportation of my furniture from Pretoria to Port Elizabeth. I accepted the quote and we had an agreement that my furniture would be transported on 07 September 2019 as a shared load. My furniture was then collected from my house to the company storage on 31 August 2019. I was advised to pay a deposit amount upon collection and I paid the deposit as advised on 31 August 2019.

I was then informed few days before the delivery date (07 September 2019) that my furniture would not be delivered on the planned date due to truck drivers protest. Since then, the removal company never took an initiative to update me about the status of my furniture delivery, I’m the one who kept on calling the company for update. To my surprise, a lady by the name of Kandice who deals with sales in the company told me that the company cannot deliver my furniture to PE for the agreed amount so they are looking for other companies who have a trip to Port Elizabeth in order to load my furniture. I kept on hearing the same excuse and there was no indication of the date on which my furniture will be delivered.

On 26 September 2019, I complained about the delays regarding the delivery of my furniture and Kandice arrogantly told me that the companies they are talking to are charging more than the amount we agreed upon for the trip so if I want my furniture to be delivered I must pay an extra amount. She further stated that I can collect my furniture from the company storage if I don’t want to pay extra and I will be charged for collection.

My furniture was eventually delivered to Port Elizabeth on 30 October 2019 after the intervention of my lawyer who sent the company a letter of demand. I even had to pay an extra amount of R200 for my furniture to be offloaded as Kandice made it clear to me that my furniture won't be offloaded if I don't pay an extra amount of R200. I even found out that one leg of my bed was missing upon delivery.
