Spoiled by Poor Service

I recently arranged a month in advance, for a group of 34, breakfast at IZA (formerly Cubana) Restaurant. The choice we chose was a simple egg, bacon, tomato and chips with white or brown toast. Also tea, coffee and juice. The price was reasonable and there was little wrong with the plated breakfast, besides it being a little on the 'cold' side. This restaurant has a view of Kings Beach and the MacArthur Swimming Baths, second to none. It was a cold day and the tented area (where we were, close to the kitchen) was heated with several ceiling mounted heaters. So the ambiance was, overall, excellent. So what could possibly be wrong? This is where 'service' and management comes into being: The service was appalling. Not only was it exceptionally slow and served, table by table (6 per table), but they couldn't get it right. You either got toast you hadn't ordered or eggs not served as asked for i.e. 'medium' fried requested, but served 'well done'. Tea & coffee served with 'hot' or 'no' milk, and when cold milk was requested, it just never arrived. The number of waitresses were plentiful and nicely uniformed, but they all served, looking a little 'dumb founded'. Breakfast was planned for 09:30 but the first table was only served an hour later. The first tables were long finished by the time the last two tables were served. Staff seemed nonplussed when it came to clearing them and seemed more content standing around in deep conversation. In summary, a lot needs to be done in the area of service and efficiency with the potential of becoming 'one of Gqeberhas best'
