EasyPay facilitates TV License ********

My TV Licence is fully paid up with the SABC.

However, I'm getting sms messages from a ******* who has my name, my licence number and my cell number.

Here are two messages: Mr/s HOFFE. Pay your TV Lic acc 44***xx59 arrears R874.50 at EasyPaypoints with ***86 596. Contact Us via WhatsApp ********** 010

24 HOUR NOTICE: MR HOFFE, TV Licence 44***xx59. We have not received pmnt to date. Pay R874.50 at EasyPay Ref. ***86 596. WhatsApp us ********** 010

I phoned the EasyPay call centre this morning (2017-09-19 about 9am) and spoke to an agent, and then to her team leader. The agent looked up the ref number, and it's registered to a "Brick field Housing Company" or similar. Not the SABC.

I asked to escalate this for investigation into *****, as someone is using the EasyPay platform to receive ****med payments.

EasyPay washed their hands. Their team leader was very sorry that I felt that they might have some responsibility in this regard, but they really have no obligation. They didn't send those **** sms's, and anyone can register to send and receive payments. They have no interest in investigating this further, or assisting to stop the ***** which is being carrying out using their service.

Regards Simon
