Quickbooks activation key ransom.
I paid R4,500 for Quickbooks pro 2006 which I have used until last week to run my business accounts. Quickbooks has worked perfectly all these years and does exactly what I need and above all I know how to use it. My hard drive crashed last week and after re-installing the discs and backups etc. I was unable to load the activation key. I contacted Quickbooks SA to be told that the 2006 model has been discontinued and that I can upgrade to the latest version and pay again for something that I already own. This in my opinion is nothing but a thinly veiled **** to force people who have old versions to upgrade to the latest version with a bunch of upgrades that they don't need. If the activation keys expire then this should be declared up front.

Thank you for your post. According to our records we have been in communication with you but we clearly have not adequately resolved your concerns. I am going to get my Renewals Manager(Mr Ivan Chetty) to give you a call and explain to you, that whilst you do have to upgrade, we can offer you a solution that I am confident you will be comfortable with.
Thanks
