My Horrible First Car Purchase Experience: Pathetic After-Sales Services from Easy Cars!
On the 10th of Nov 2018, myself, my father and brother headed over to Easy Cars to check out a 2014 Hyundai i20. During our conversation with the salesman, I specifically asked if the car came with a spare key, which he responded with "yes it does." Based on that, along with the other features I really liked, I decided to purchase the car. On the 21st of Nov 2018, the car was ready for delivery. I then asked for the spare key, and to my shock, I was told that the salesman never told me the car came with one! Are you freaking kidding me!? Management then asked if I had some sort of paper trail as proof of this promise, obviously I didn't have any because I took the salesman's word for it! Up until this day, I still received no spare key.
After the car got delivered, I noticed both back passenger windows couldn't smoothly wind up and down, and something on the inside started s****ing the inside film of the right window which caused bad damage to it. Plus, clearly someone worked on the right door and did a poor job since that door panel wasn't even put back correctly. I brought it to the attention of Easy Cars, only the door was secured and windows could wind down, but they didn't replace the sc****d window film. Toya, who forms part of management, then said if they replace the window film it will look different to the others. I said, if that's the case, I cannot accept that and I am within my full consumer rights to request that they replace all 4 windows then, since the issue rooted from the initial problematic back window. Instead of saying it to my face, Toya tells the receptionist to tell me he refuses to replace any windows unless I'm paying R1800 for all the windows (minus R450 for the "courtesy fix of the initial problem window.") Ridiculous!
While driving the next day, I noticed when I would push the "hazards" button / turn on the headlights / switch the aircon on/off, or even brake, the radio would randomly stop for 2 seconds and continue playing again. Plus, one park light bulb was missing. So yet again, I went back to the dealership for a third time on the 11th of Nov 2018. They offered to drop me at Somerset mall while they worked on it (I was not told how long the power dip and light bulb repair would take.) I accepted since it was only my car at the workshop. They left me at the mall for over 5 hours without any update!! I had to call them to ask what was happening and who was picking me up. Naturally, this would **** off anyone. They ran battery and alternator tests, said they didn't find anything, yet the problem still persisted on my way home. Then they asked that (for a fourth time!) I come in on another day so a different technician could take a look, because they don't know what the problem is (more inconvenience on my part.) I requested that they find a driver to pick up my car at home the next day (Nov 12th). I got a message from the branch manager on the 12th of Nov at 10:02am saying they don't have a driver at the moment, and I never heard from him again. So I knew that if I wanted to get anything done in a timely manner, I'd need to take the car to them (again!).
At this point, I'm furious at their pathetic service because all they had were excuses and they greatly lacked professionalism. Not only did management give me attitude, but even the receptionist when she annoyingly greeted me with "ag, what is it now again?" when I walked through the door to deliver my car. Excuse me??? From all the stress they have put me through over the last 3 weeks since the car was sold to me up until today, that natural joy one experiences after you buy your first car has been ****** from me, and Easy Cars has greatly contributed to it.
I walked out of that dealership on the 12th of Nov 2018, promising them that I will not leave the matter like this, I will be taking it further!
