Worst service experience ever!
To whom this my concern, Trust this mail will find you well. On the 18th of July 2017 I have approached Voorspoed Motors, Pretoria with regards to a vehicle (white 320i BMW sport 2011) which I was interested in priced at R159 999.00. I have dealt with Chanzelle and Pieter at the dealership. They informed me that the owner of the vehicle was a Mr D.C Geldenhuys and gave me his contact number +27 79 ********** . I was furthermore informed that the vehicle was parked at the Voorspoed Motors, Pretoria stand as the owner of the vehicle, Mr D.C Geldenhuys, and the owner, a person named Anton, of Voorspoed Motors, Pretoria are personal friends and that they are selling the vehicle on behalf of Mr D.C Geldenhuys. Voorspoed Motors proceeded with a vehicle financing application at MFC on my behalf where after the deal was approved (by MFC). Voorsped Motors requested a cash deposit of R50 000 where after I made the payment into Voorspoed Motors account. I received the vehicle a few days thereafter. Vehicle costs were as follows: Purchase Price: R159 999.00 Service and Delivery Fee: R3 950.00 License and Registration Fee: R3 950.00 Total Amount: R167 899.00 Cash Deposit: R50 000.00 Vehicle Finance Amount: R117 899.00 Days passed I’ve driven about 1000km. On 10 October 2017 while my wife and I was on honeymoon which we spend in Nelspruit, I parked the vehicle at Hippos Waterfront Lodge under a tree, it rained during the night but just enough to wet the ground. We were to return to our home in Pretoria the next morning. I have inserted the key into the ignition that morning but the motor was just swinging and a warning light came on indicating “DSC Failure”. I contacted Chazelle at Voorspoed Motors to inform them about the situation. I was then told that the owner was on a Fishing trip and therefore there is no one at the Voorspoed Motors branch with the authority to assist me in this regard. Chanzelle furthermore advised me to notify my insurance or the warranty holder about the situation so that they can deal with this matter. I furthermore informed Chanzelle that I am very unhappy about the situation as I have only had the vehicle for just over a month and that it has already left me stranded. I was very confused as I was under the impression that, in the terms of the Consumer Act, I had coverage for any defects with the vehicle for up to a period of six months after date of purchase. I contacted my father so that he can assist as he had more knowledge of similar situations. He contacted me back and informed me that he also contacted Voorspoed Motors. He said Chanzelle told him that I must contact the warranty claims department to assist me in this regard. I then contacted the BMW call center asking for the nearest BMW dealer assistance when they advised me that the nearest BMW dealership is Eastview in Nelspruit as I have had taken out an additional warranty plan on the vehicle. I was hoping that (under the warranty policy) BMW will be able to assist me. I’ve received a contact number from the dealership for Gerald (service department manager) to assist with the issue. I have contacted Gerald and he informed me that a road call assistant is on the way, the technician had arrived after 15:00 the afternoon. After a few checks he did I was informed that my vehicle must be taken in to BMW Eastview so that further dino testing could be conducted due to failure of the vehicle. We managed to arrange towing of the vehicle with my Insurance: Santam: Claim number ********** 78. Vehicle was towed to BMW Eastview Nelspruit after a struggle and a long day of waiting. I have dealt with Gerald and Carol (admin at service department) at BMW Eastview and they informed me that they will be running a check on the vehicle and revert back to me as soon as possible. On the 17th of October I’ve received the following fault finding report from BMW: To whom it may concern: The above mentioned vehicle was towed to our Dealer on the 11thof October for not starting. On Inspection we found that the Diagnostic computer does not want to communicate with the vehicle. We then inspected the DME (Vehicle ECU) for any visible fault and then found that the unit is full of water. The DME (Vehicle ECU) is the brain for the vehicle. This unit is located in the LF of the engine compartment secured in a box. If the seals is old and damage then water can leak through to the unit itself. The weekend before that the vehicle was towed in we had some severe rain storms in Nelspruit and this could have caused the water to enter into the Unit. Unfortunately we have to renew the DME before any other diagnosis can be done to the vehicle. Please feel free to contact us if you require any more details. Gerald Geyer Workshop Foreman Quotation for the repair was assessed for : Santam then arrange for an assessor to come out the next day, only to arrive a week later than arranged. I’ve started to get frustrated and was on the edge of going down to BMW Eastview myself. The assessor then managed to arrive on site on the 30th of October 2017. After assessment from Gert (Santam) they had informed the claim has been approved for the quotation send from BMW, amount was paid in our accounts with an excess fee of R3000. (Please see attachement) Several weeks went by only to be informed by BMW that another fault was detected and additional quote will be send to me. After a long struggle once again Santam managed to pay out the additional money for the repair. I had to call BMW daily for an update of progress and received little to no assistance in this regard from Voorspoed Motors. After signing multiple documents and submitting it to Bmw Eastview, they told me the part has been ordered (weeks went by not contacting me but sending only one email asking to sign paperwork before they could actually order the part) Long story short I don’t want the vehicle anymore as I’ve still been paying my installment now for the third consecutive month but does not even have my vehicle back yet, and all this without receiving assistance from anyone in this regard including Voorspoed Motors and BMW! I was also recently informed on 2018/01/15 that BMW has ordered the wrong part or the part isn’t compatible with the vehicle (AFTER I HAD TO CALL AND RECEIVED UPDATES). I was furthermore informed by BMW that the vehicle’s key which I gave to them is not the correct or original key of the vehicle. The key was the one that I received upon the purchase of the vehicle at Voorspoed Motors. Even though I am receiving no assistance from Voorspoed Motors in this regard, I have been very patient but it has really turned into a huge problem and burden for me for the following reasons: · I had to claim for the damages from my Insurance which is going to adversely affect my future insurance installments; · I had to pay money from my pocket for excess amounts to my insurance; · This matter resulted in other financial expenses such as telephone billing, internet billing, etc.; · I had undergo further financial expenses to make arrangements to get back to home (Pretoria) from Nelspruit; · This matter is very time consuming and I need to spend a lot of my time to do progress follow-up and consultations with BMW, Santam, Voorspoed Motors, etc,; · I struggle to get to work and back every single day and above my vehicle installment, I need to pay for alternative transport; · I am paying a vehicle installment for a vehicle which I am not even in possession of; and · IF I do get the vehicle back someday, I will not have assurance that it is reliable. My concern is that if the vehicle is giving me this huge amount of hassles in the short period of just over a month of driving it, what is going to happen in the next two, six or twelve months. All of the above hassles and stress is on me and the rest, especially Voorspoed Motors where I bought the vehicle, seem to give a damn about the situation. I am extremely disappointed in Voorspoed Motors as when I tried to consult with them in this regard, I was told by Pieter (the other owner of Voorspoed Motors) that this situation is not his problem and he is not by any means going to provide assistance and that I should contact the previous owner of the vehicle directly. I hereby would like to request that MFC investigate this matter and cancel the deal with immediate effect. Thank you. Harold Zinserling. Contact number : ********** 508
