Gift Card - Cannot use the full amount on card!!

<p>I recently received a gift card from my work colleagues for the amount of R400 which can be used in any shop at the East Rand Mall. I found a pair of shoes that I liked at Solo and decided to buy them, as they where R499 I was prepared to pay in R99. When the cashier swiped the gift card to use the R400 the card kept on declining. Then they told me that I will not be able to use the entire R400 as there is charges involved on the card. Well this I do not understand because if there is R400 on the card then I would like to use the entire R400. In the end they put it through as R380. This is the first mall that I received a mall voucher and I was unable to use the full amount. Basically it would then be better just to receive cash instead of buying the gift voucher as they rip you off. </p> <p> </p>
