Short on Staff

I went to Eagle Lighting Knysna about 2 weeks ago, it was early in the morning and there were only two employees visible. The phone rang and while the employee at the back of the shop was on the phone, the other one assisted a customer that came in before me. Luckily it was not a long call and a very patient and helpful gentlemen apologized for keeping me waiting. He then showed me around and with his product knowledge I was able to choose 2 items that I liked. The phone rang again, and while the other person was still assisting a customer there was no one else to answer the phone call. Then 2 employees walked in only to put down their stuff and went outside again. I decided to bring my husband with me for his opinion later that day and I left the shop. I was shocked to see the same two staff members that came in (clearly late for work) standing outside smoking! While inside the shop the phone keeps on ringing and customers are waiting for assistance. I was not able to go back that same day and went the next day just after 16:30 with my husband. The same two gentlemen from the previous day were busy assisting customers and a lady sitting behind a desk and clearly not capable or willing to assist us. After a few minutes of waiting my husband said he can't wait any longer and we left. A week later I went back to the shop, and the same 2 gentlemen were in the shop, both assisting customers. This was my 3rd time in the shop, and I had to leave empty handed again because I did not have time to wait. My question is how can a busy shop (or busy every time I am there) have only 2 staff members available? Where is management? Or is management the once coming late? Or the one sitting behind a desk not wanting or able to assist? Thank you to the gentlemen in the back who’s name I can’t remember but believe he is the assistant manager; you were very helpful. Eagle Lighting Knysna, you lost my sale as I bought almost the same item form a shop in Plettenberg Bay on Monday. Time for the manager and top management to pull up your socks! The shop can’t function with only 2 competent staff employees. Regards A very unhappy old lady.
