Date of incident: 08 September 2026 Approximate time: Between 14:15 and 14:45 Location: Limindlela Train Station, Tembisa Security company: Eagle Eye Security Security identifiers observed: PR 2355 and EE 22015 on the security members' reflectors To: The Management of Eagle Eye Security / Relevant Station Management I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the conduct and handling of my nephew by members of Eagle Eye Security stationed at Limindlela Train Station in Tembisa on 08 September 2026. My nephew travelled from Kempton Park to Tembisa. He purchased a train ticket from the ticket teller at Kempton Park, and the ticket issued to him was for Tembisa Station. His intended destination was Limindlela. Upon arriving at Limindlela Train Station and exiting the train, my nephew was stopped by Eagle Eye Security members. The security members advised him that he required a different ticket for his destination and subsequently detained him. The security members involved had the identifiers PR 2355 and EE 22015 displayed on their reflectors. I request that these identifiers be used to establish the identity of the officers who were involved in the incident. I wish to make it clear that the requirement to purchase another ticket was not the main concern. Once the matter was explained, I was prepared to purchase the required ticket, which I did. The serious concern is that my nephew was placed and locked inside a holding cell. After I had purchased the required ticket and the matter had apparently been resolved, the security members were unable to release him because they stated that the keys to the holding cell were not functioning properly. This is extremely concerning. Once the required ticket had been purchased and the ticket-related matter had been addressed, my nephew should not have remained locked inside a holding cell simply because the security personnel were experiencing a problem with the keys. There was also a witness present who can provide information regarding what occurred. I therefore request that Eagle Eye Security and the relevant station management: Conduct a full investigation into this incident. Identify the security members wearing the identifiers PR 2355 and EE 22015. Review the duty roster for Eagle Eye Security members stationed at Limindlela on 08 September 2026. Review any available CCTV footage covering the incident between approximately 14:15 and 14:45. Establish why my nephew was detained and placed in a holding cell. Establish why he could not be released after the required ticket had been purchased. Investigate the reported problem with the holding-cell keys and determine whether the cell and locking mechanism were functioning properly. Confirm what procedures Eagle Eye Security members are required to follow when dealing with passengers who have ticket-related issues. Provide me with a written response setting out the findings of the investigation and any corrective action taken. I want to emphasise that this complaint is not about being required to purchase another ticket. My concern is the manner in which my nephew was detained and, more importantly, the fact that he remained locked inside a holding cell after the ticket issue had been resolved because of an alleged problem with the keys. I request that this matter be treated seriously and investigated without delay. I also request that any CCTV footage, security records, duty rosters and other relevant records relating to this incident be preserved pending the investigation. I am willing to provide further information and the details of the witness if required. Yours faithfully, Lebogang Molao *** *** Relationship to passenger: Uncle/Nephew Date: 08 September 2026
