E-CAR Welkom sold second-hand parts as new

<p>Myself and my family were visiting relatives in Virgina, Free State during the weekend of 1-3 July. On our way home on 3 July 2016 my 2007 Kia Sedona broke down. We were towed to Welkom, where my car was booked into E-CAR on the 4th of July 2016. Willie assisted us, and indicated that the car's alternator was broken and needed to be replaced. At first the existing alternator was sent in to be reconditioned, but did not function properly, so I was advised that the best course of action would be to buy a new alternator at a cost of just over R4000 excluding labour, the cost was just over R6000. I agreed, and they supposedly installed a new alternator. After taking days off of work and the inconvenience of not being able to return home, we receicved our car and returned home on the 7th of July 2016.</p> <p> </p> <p>Recently (on 4 November 2016) I experienced the same problem while driving to work. I took my car to another garage which showed me that the "new" alternator supposedly installed by E-CAR was in fact old and damaged. What is worse - the new alternator being installed now only costs R2600 (Exluding fuses and labour). To add insult to injury, money and tools were taken out of my car.</p> <p> </p> <p>I feel extremely ripped of. I have enough evidence to take the matter further but I hope E-CAR will have the integrity to sort this out, before matters are taken further causing even more inconvenience and incurring further cost.</p> <p> </p> <p>I would never ecommend E-CAR to anyone.</p>
