*********** or dishonest?
My car had a jerking problem whenever I changed gears. It's been an annoyance for a while, so I took it to a place, which I won't name and shame here, as they didn't actually do anything wrong. They said they're not sure what is wrong and don't have the equipment to see what the problem is, but I should maybe try Dynotech.
So I took my car to them, just asking to see if they could quote me. The car was there a few days, after which they said the petrol pump needs to be replaced, which would cost R16 000. This was insane so I asked to get my car back, and this cost me R1500. An insane amount for not much done, but alright.
My sister then suggested someone they know at a better garage, who told me they'd replace the pump for R3600. A far better deal, so they did it in an afternoon. When the issue persisted, I took the car back, and after checking to see what caused it, they said the spark plugs weren't working correctly, and one of them made a faulty connection. The owner of the establishment felt so bad over replacing the pump and it not fixing the fault, he ended up not charging me anything for the followup.
So not only did Dynotech charge an insane amount (over four times what a logical place charged), it was also for a part that wasn't even what was wrong in the first place. My only conclusion is that Dynotech either proved to be dishonest or ***********. Neither of which one would look for in a business. If your car is busted, seek help elsewhere.
