Deceptive mileage and price

I would like to express my level of disappointment and utter disgust.

I purchased a white Toyota Etios from Durban North Auto Sales on the 20 of July 2016. The mileage that was appearing on the clock when I bought it was about 61000km.

I reached 75000km over the weekend (16/04/2017) so I booked it for a service. Today I took my car in for the service at Durban South Toyota and I have been informed that the mileage that is showing on the clock is incorrect. Apparently the cluster was replaced.

I then called Durban North Auto Sales to find out what the procedure is when one is selling a vehicle to them. I didn't explain anything to them, I called as a person who wants to sell a car. I was then informed that the car gets assessed and evaluated and the service history of the car is also used during this assessment.

My question now is that how did they accept the car from the person who sold it to them without proper assessment and evaluation as an experienced Auto sales? If it was indeed assessed and the seller brought in the service book then how did the mileage drop to 61000km? According to Toyota the mileage is above to 170 000km. Who is responsible for dropping the by 100 000km? It was done by someone.

Hellopeter, please help me get to the bottom of this. Had I known all this information I wouldn't have bought this car. I paid cash for this car and I didn't get the service book. I don't recall what they said when I asked for it. I would've taken action from the beginning. I want to take legal action against Durban North Auto Sales for misleading me. I should have paid less for the the car at such a high mileage had they been transparent.

Please help me.
