Despondent
I have been without electricity for four days. Every time I call the call center I get a different response regarding repairs to the supply. I wonder if this is the status of paying customers from our municipalities. There is always a referral to the depot that is dealing with the fault and after 4 days I had to get a generator. Apparently all repairs are contracted and if these contractors are issued the work we are at their mercy. It is disappointing to realize that the ethos is not the same across all staff, as some are really desperate to assist while most other don’t really give a damn. I had to resort to many primitive ways of cooking and sorting my family out and eventually borrowing money to buy a generator to provide basic lighting at night. Having a young family doesn’t make it easy as demands are without understanding....a reality that our service provider quiet honestly don’t give a damn about. Battery back up only last that long and if you don’t get power after 24hrs there’s only some much an inverter can do..... Sadly my faith in our local municipalities are as robust as my faith in Eskom... As for the the local councilors that we voted for....just amature politicians with civil service in the background and personal gain a priority with accountability with the citizens.... according to my local councilor I could have caused the power disruption and I need to check my point of use...another door nail So for Durban metro electricity....thank you for persuasive persistent belief that you are providing the best service... My 30 years of faith in the country was dissolved in four days....watching my loved ones health diminish due to our power outages. THANK YOU FOR THE WAKE UP CALL
Public service is not what we pay for. We pay for your privilege to be in charge.
