You'll be lucky if you get more than 2 years out of a Duratherm geyser, and no, the 10 year guarantee is a ****

<p>I bought a (more expsive) Duratherm geyser because of the 10 year guarantee. 2 years later it is leaking. Although "Future Comfort" (their agents in Cape Town) can find nothing wrong with the (fully compliant) installation, they have now decided that the solar panels (Solarjoy, which was part of the Eskom rebate program), has not been tested with the Duratherm specifically, and therefore the guarantee is void. Now I ask you.... how does a piece of copper pipe in a aluminium box that captures heat from the sun influence a geyser's lifespan, more or less than any other copper pipe in a box?</p> <p>According to my installer they and many others won't touch Duratherm (W.E. Geysers) any more for exactly this kind of attitude (and the fact that they seem to be failing a lot these days), so the company is probably dying already, and just holding out by avoiding any guarantee payouts. My Ombudsman query will take some time, but in the meantime do yourself a favour and avoid.</p>
