Duratherm Geysers - going slowly nowhere!!!!!

Our 150 liter Duratherm geyser started to leak on Sunday, 7th of January 2018. Our burst geyser is 5 yrs inside the 10 yr warranty period - however Duratherm claiming the installation is non compliant!? Every day they have a different reason why they can't honour their warranty. It seems Duratherm are voiding warranties on technicalities. Our installation was done in 2012 as part of the Eskom subsidy, by a reputable installation business! And the inspecting plumber (independent to Duratherm) informed me that the burst geyser was compliant. Spoken to Thinus Vermaak, the technical manager. They never phone back, they do not answer emails, they keep you on the line forever. I think I can take this complaint to a higher level...

Good day

We have investigated your warranty claim and found the information given by the call centre to be correct.

The geyser is not installed according to SANS regulations.

  1. The water pressure is unbalanced.
  2. There is no steam release valve installed on the EVT system.
  3. The solar system tested at the SABS consisted of 1 x 150lt geyser and 1 x 12EVT tube panel. The system you have installed consists of 2 x EVT tube panels. This will cause the system to overheat and damage the PEX lining of the geyser. The system you have installed has no SABS1307 certificate.
  4. The isotech valve has also been installed at the wrong place and should be installed outside at the tubes.

Our terms and conditions clearly state that the installation MUST comply with all relevant SANS regulations in order for the warranty to be upheld.

kind regards

Duratherm Management
