"Dunlop"...."Lop....Lop".....pppppssssttttt.....@ 10km/h

Hi there

In a nutshell...... My son bought two brand new Dunlop tyres at R1000 each from a Dunlop dealer in George, and had them fitted to the front of his vehicle......he had them on his vehicle for 10 days....at a shopping centre, he accidentally hit an obstacle (something like a pavement - will attached pictures if possible) at about 10km/h, and the tyre popped.....the rear tyre which is a Continental, also crossed the obstacle at the same speed and angle, and is perfect, no damage.....maybe he should have fitted the Dunlop's on the rear wheels........lol....I can't help wondering what the result would have been.........

The CPA protects the consumer against poor quality products, although the technical inspector from Dunlop - who by the way had great responses at all times (Shaune - I have to give you credit on your response times, a pity this is where the good services ended for me!!!!!)...... stated that he could not find anything wrong with the quality of the tyre (I would like to know how this was determined.....by looking at the tyre....or was there actual tests conducted on the tyre????!!!!) and that this could happen to any type of tyre.....seriously!!!!!! Even send me some pictures of "other" damaged tyres.....not popped.....but clearly not brand new, and the damages looks like bubbles........what kind of comparison is that!!!!!..... (See attached report from Technical Inspector - Shaune Catchpole and pictures of cement obstacle and pictures of tyres).....this is just not acceptable, as I've had driven 100's of thousands of kilometers, and have hit numerous obstacles, potholes etc, at high speeds, and never had an experience like this with many other types of tyres.

I do feel that consumers should be made aware of Dunlop tyres, as they do not appear to be as robust as other brands, especially when travelling at low speeds................

I really would like to believe that this was an isolated incident, and that Dunlop will replace or refund the tyre.

Thank you

It seems that Dunlop SA does not take this complaint seriously.........well, I will forward this to the Vehicle ombudsman, and see what comes from it....nevertheless.....I will not support or recommend Dunlop ever......
