Dunlop Linton Grange

First of all I want clarify this is Dunlop Linton Grange across from Makro Port Elizabeth.

I went there about a month ago to get new wheels I bought privately, swapped onto my car and originals taken off. The guy that did it was very helpful as he needed to take the new wheels off and put my originals back on so I could go buy spacers as the new wheels were rubbing against my calipers. That was great service and I tipped the guy R50 for doing that.

I asked to do wheel alignment the car got moved and onto the lift. Another guy that was going to do the wheel alignment was checking under my car started tugging on my steering rack and told me they couldn’t do wheel alignment and I need to replace my steering rack first. I asked them for a price and they said R2500 without labor. Just coming from paying for new wheels I couldn’t afford that so I said I can’t pay for it and would have to leave it.

About a month after them saying I’d need a new steering rack, I decided to take it to best drive William Moffett to see what they would say if I put the car on the lift to do wheel alignment. And to my surprise they said nothing about needing a new steering rack and made my wheel alignment pin straight.

So confused I also asked them about price on a new steering rack with labor for fitting it and they said R1700 for the rack and fitment but they told me it doesn’t need replacing.

I am extremely upset by this as I’ve put unnecessary wear on my tires for a month cause I was told and lead to believe wheel alignment wouldn’t be able to be done. Not just that, wanting to sell me a steering rack for R2500 without labor is a ridiculous markup if you compare it to best drive being R1700 with labor.

I’m horrified by the unprofessionalism of the whole situation at Dunlop Linton Grange.
