Incompetance at Dunkeld country estate

My family and I have been at Dunkeld Country estate for the last few years and this place just amazes me every time.

2018 The first time we stayed in one of Dunkeld's own units above the reception with the two dams right in front of the 4 unit house. From a far everything looks beautiful, but looking closer it was a totally different picture.

I took a shower just to find that the showerhead sprayed more water out of the side where it was broken then out of the front.

I tried to put on the tv but the batteries of the remote was flat.

In the late afternoons we sat on the balcony while having a drink when I noticed that the wooden door and windows was recently varnished, but due to incompetence the painter thought it would be acceptable to paint the windows with varnish as well. Some of the windows are so full of varnish that less than 50% of window is clear.

On the inside of the house as well of the outside once again one can see it was the same incompetance painter painting, there as with of the ceiling on the black painted roof timber and vice versa.

One of the evenings we decided to eat outside on the balcony, when it got dark I put on the light just to see that the light is up against the a roof timber and the amount of light is useless.

2020 We stayed in the holiday clubs units, number 7, I thought maybe thing will be better there, or NOT! I would like to point out that the unit sleeps 6 people, and we were 6 in the unit.

Clearly they used the same painter there as well, as the amount of bricks painted white could have painted a whole house.

The first evening I asked everyone if they would like to drink something. I when to the kitchen cupboard to that out 4 glasses and saw there was only 1 250ml glass in the cupboard. I walked around to see if there was any glasses used so I can clean it. I saw one person had already taken a glass and I asked her if there were only 2 glasses in the cupboard, she rep**** yes only two - for a 6 sleeper unit So I used the 1 250ml glass and the wine glasses - the 3 different shape and sizes wine glasses, there was also Wiskey glasses but again only 3. Neither less to say I was a bit fuming We bought 6 glasses at the local shop.

The bottom bathroom, the toilet was clearly one the brought from a decommissioned public toilet. While we were in town I had to use the bathroom and ran into a garage public toilet to find that that was in a better condition as well as cleaner as the one we got in unit 7 on arrival.

It rained a bit while we were there and every one having a brain could get one will walk dirt and grass in the unit, when trying to clean it where was no broom to be found.

The braaier's light was blown and the metallic part was still in the connector.

The we the the Holiday club's recreational area and bought a drink at the bar, when we went back to pay for the drink we had to call the person 6 times. The woman working the bar did answers us twice. After the 5th time my friend walked behind the bar and in the kitchen area to find the woman standing and talking to people while we waited for a few minutes already.

One of the people who stayed with us has a Masters degree in Environmental Management and while we walked through the field to the on of the dams in 2019 he came to the conclusion that the grass and the animals indicate that the field is over used and they should at least get rid of 50% of the animals for at least 5 year for the field to recover

Taking all of the above mentioned point in consideration I came to a few conclusions: 1. This is the last year Dunkeld will see us 2. Clearly there is no management in regards with management - quality control, person is being paid 100% of his salary but not doing his work 100% 3. The isn't good control on the unit to point out problems and potential problems 4. Paying R1300 per night for 4 people one should have better quality units

The reason why I didn't take this up with Dunkeld country estate themself is because clearly the problems persists over the last few years and I personally think they need some hard criticism to make sure this does not happen in the future.
