Cable ties to fix a CV Joint!?
My car, a Citi Golf, was taken to Dundee Panelbeaters in December 2014 after being in an accident in which the front left side was severely damaged, including a significant amount of damage to the wheel shaft. It took Dundee Panelbeaters until mid-March (2 and a half months) to fix the issues. When we eventually received it back we saw that they had replaced the spare wheel with the damaged tyre from the accident, despite charging us for a new one. After another 2 weeks we received the new tyre. However, there was still a loud rattle at the front left. We noticed that the CV joint had not been repaired and that it was severely damaged. After taking it back to Dundee Panelbeaters for another 2 weeks (now 3 months in total), I eventually got my car back, thinking that everything was fixed. Four months later, as I drove over a speedbump the front left CV joint broke. Upon inspection I saw that Dundee Panelbeaters had repaired it using a strip of tyre rubber and a cable tie. I am disgusted and angered that they would be so careless as to repair such a vital part of a car in such a way!
