Concend Parent

If you are looking for a place where your child becomes good academically but you do not care about your child's mental and emotional health. This is the place. The number of times my child came home crying because of the tactless ways the teachers reprimand kids are countless.

My daughter even witnessed a teacher pull a little boys pants down in front of the class and smack his bottom, because he was apparently wearing the wrong school pants for the season. What happened to calling the parents and asking them to dress the child correctly? Also I have had kids in my carpool tell me about how the principal was shouting at a student in front of his whole class telling him that his parents had not paid the schools stationery fee so 'he will have to see what to do' yesterday his mother had instead bought stationery and delivered to the school as she could not afford the exorbitant amount the school had asked for. And this boy is a 'special needs' child. He was embarrassed like that on front of his whole class.

My 8 year old daughter was made to keep and carry around heavy stationery all day after she had tried to submit it to the teacher but because, it was not the complete required stationery she was given back immediately and told to go and tell her mother that we don't accept half things. Why was the child made to carry around that very heavy bag all day? What was wrong with taking the stationery and contacting the parent to bring the rest in?

When I have contacted the Principal about these and other grievances and asked point blank the questions I sited above the response was 'im not going to answer you I am going to ask the guidance of Christ to help me before I say something I will regret'. So you are upset that a parent is concerned about the less than caring treatment that is being given to kids at your establishment u even threaten that you would say things you'd regret because you do not care for being questioned because u are under the umbrella of 'Independent school's?

If we want to say Independent schools I are governed by a different rules... As a parent at your Independent school, I'm not your friend, I am a paying client at your establishment and when I bring forward complaints. I brought forward the complaints with no abuse or worse swearing as most people become when they are upset about the treatment of their kids, you started with an unhappy client most of the times and your attitude changes things. Unhappy is not irate, your attitude can cause a client to swing to HAPPY with a simple skill of listening, showing empathy to their situation and apologizing...Or IRATE if treated or spoken to badly or ignored.

There was public embarassment, threats, and beating of kids. I have had several talks with the Principal about this. I have even lodged a complaint about teachers that beat kids at school, this is against the law. My child wasn't hit but the ones that were hit don't even go home to report because they are scared that they will be treated badly further. Those that have reported to their parents, parents do not go to complain as most of them do not have sufficient documentation and they are *******s who would struggle to put their kids in a better situation. I have recorded calls and WhatsApp screenshots of my complaints. I am happy to provide. I also have the details of the kids that reported the shouting and insulting of the boy whose mother did not pay for stationery and the ones that reported to me about the teachers that beat kid's.

We all want our children to go to school. Even those without documents. Children should be protected and nurtured. Academic growth is not all that teachers and a school should provide. A school is supposed to be an extension of the community. The kids that are stuck there aren't mine, I have taken mine out. But just knowing that some have no choice but to be there because maybe their parents come from a country where children's rights aren't as steadfast and well stipulated in the constitution like in our country and they even agree with this kind of treatment of their kids, breaks my heart.
