Shocking service and food at DuKloof Lodge/Du Toitskloof Lodge

I had the most shocking experience and service at thus business. We phoned the afternoon before to make a booking and were told they do not take bookings, but we can come for breakfast up until 11am. They did not tell us the restaurant is closed for a function and we would be placed at a dirt stained table in a confined passage between the bar and reception. We had absolutely no view which is advertised as their draw card, but found ourselves constantly interrupted by people walking between the bar and reception. We saw a waiter when orders were initially taken and coffee delivered. After 40min of no food or waiter in sight, I informed the receptionist they can cancel the order if the food is not yet made. I had the decency to give them an opportunity to bring the food if made which promptly happened thereafter. The toast was burnt and cold, sausage raw and bacon dripping in fat. Really shocking quality. Portions were small for the excessive price of a breakfast.

What a huge disappointment for someone that decided to drive all the way from Durbanville for a special breakfast with family. I will never recommend this place or ever return.

This dump is not worth stopping at and the hype of their web page is far over rated. The experience was so bad that I did not leave a tip for the first time ever, despite firmly believing in a 15% min tip.
