********* practice

My husband and I went to enquirer about the debt review process and if my husband needed it. At the appointment we discussed we were mainly concerned about back payment of of maintenance and if my husband was under any debt. He got us to sign a few forms and explained it was retrieve his credit report and if we happy with it all then to set things up for him. On receipt of his credit report my husband was not over indebted at all and only had small loan which he’s paying off. So we decided against being under debt review. A couple weeks later we had a debit order take off from the debt councilors. We immediately went to the office and spoke to the consultant requesting it be reversed and explained explicitly what we do not agree to being under debt review as it is unnecessary. The consultant then confirmed he reversed payment and that it was also cancelled.

Now for the last two years my husband has tried to apply for credit even getting a lease through an estate agent and everything was declined and we could not understand why. We eventually got an answer this week to say it’s because he listed as being under debt review. So for two years this company has messed with our family financially. We did not agree to anything and made it extremely clear we did not wish to proceed before the debit order took off.

As a consumer we are allowed to change our minds. We signed forms under the pretense that it was for the agent to check and advise. Not that we would be bound to them for years. So this company has taken my husbands documents and falsely submitted on his behalf and now listed him as under debt review and now refuse to even address the issue.

It’s hard to believe that anyone that walks into that door is forced to sign forms to just enquirer about the service and then even though the person is not over indebted the company proceeds to submit documentation without their consent and be able to turn around to the customer and say it is his fault. Yes it is our fault for believing they were an ethical business who keep their clients interests in mind not their own greed and personal gain.

The director of the company said to me stuck in this and their is absolutely no way of getting out of it. Despite the fact that I asked her if as a professional advisor should you put a person under debt review when t is unnecessary just to have business. I highly recommend anyone use this company and be careful what documents they get hold of, you might end up married to a stranger and be branded and flagged under debt review.
