Unfair and underhand

In November 2017 I...through a business that already dealt with DSV, arranged to have a rather expensive and hard to come by windscreen for a 41 year old vehicle, transported from Johannesburg to Cape Town. The windscreen was properly wrapped and boxed by the windscreen supplier and the entire parcel was covered in stickers clearly indicating FRAGILE !! When the parcel arrived at DSV's depot in Cape Town, the manager there phoned me to inform me that the windscreen had been badly handled en route and was in fact 'smashed' !! I lodged a complaint by email with the head office in Pretoria and submitted my claim for damages (simply the replacement cost) - all supported by photos and the required documentation. In the first instance - the claim forms were not sent to me as the client, but rather to the account holder through whom this arrangement had been made. Secondly - I recieved no updates re my complaint and it was very difficult to get to speak to anyone on the phone who was in any way helpful. Finally - and this is the main reason for this post - my claim has been turned down on the basis that no value for the windscreen was filled in on the back of the delivery note !!! I was never involved at any time in the filling in of the documents as this was all done in Johannesburg AND..the parcel was accepted like this by DSV . Do DSV honestly believe that I would pay to have a 'worthless'...yet fragile parcel transported to Cape Town from Johannesburg ????? If there was any missing information they (DSV) should have brought this to my attention PRIOR to accepting the parcel and transporting to Cape Town. So...clearly DSV has found any reason not to refund me for their gross negligence and appalling service - and also clearly expect to get away with this and suffer no consequences !!

As suggested by DSV, I responded to their request (above). I was clearly misguided in hoping that they...DSV...wished to make good and compensate me for my loss which is / was as a direct result of their negligence - I was wrong !! They rep**** simply with an affirmation that some or other 'clause' rendered my claim null and void - despite acknowledging that they had caused some 'inconvenience' !!! I wish to place on record that I do NOT accept their meaningless apologies and that I have no intention whatsoever of simply 'letting this slide'. I shall explore all avenues regarding my options and see to it that they (DSV) are kept firmly in the 'spotlight'.
