Requesting personal details when phoning a client.

I was contacted by a representative to arrange for the delivery of my card. They then proceeded to ask me personal information to confirm my identity. This is highly irregular. I will not give out any personal information to anyone giving me a call. There is no way for me to confirm that this person was who they claim they was.

I then called my bank, who confirmed that this was the procedure that has to be followed.

Why? You have my number and all my details - and you call me, you should be the one's confirming my details.

Please change your procedures. You can state the address or ID number for me to confirm, if you call me...

I have no problem confirming my details if I phone you, but if you phone me, you should not ask for personal details.
