Useless/Inefficient customer care

Most *********** call centre and over the counter assistance. Cannot access finance staff either. I have been trying for 2 months to sort out my billing - account is in credit but am constantly being told I owe them money. After getting no joy from call centre regarding this, I went to their offices - spent about 2 and half hours with the counter assistant Cleavon Fynn who clearly does not understand how debtors accounts/payment allocations work.

This all started with the "Access charges" - I installed Explorer and was told by the call centre I had to pay for "CatchUp" and in good faith accepted this - never received statements despite requesting this time after time so I could not see the status of my account. I was told they don't send out statements - we have to request - what kind of operation is this - how is one supposed to know what is being billed, especially in my case - had I known that I was being billed for "Access" I would have queried this right away.

I insisted on them sending me a statement only to find additional charges for "Access" - queried if this was for Catchup - did not get clarity - I googled this and found that this charge had nothing to do with Catchup and also that my Premium subscription is inclusive of this charge.

My access was also disconnected twice in February- 1st time - my payment was due on the 5th (2 days before it was actually due) and before the day was over (5th) they disconnect service. Again 2 days later service was again disconnected - as according to them I still owed some money - this despite my balance being in Credit.

After my visit, received call that afternoon informing me that I, yes, I reversed my payment on the account and I tried to explain that I had not access to their systems or their bank account to do this, but insisted that I had done this - requested to speak to their finance department but was refused access to them. Subsequently sent a copy of my bank statement to prove that I "did not reverse anything" - got acknowledgement of email but nothing since - now 2 week later - sent email requesting feedback as well as enquired about the "Access Fees" and the price increase effective 1 April18 - as to whether the VAT was at 14 or 15%.

No response received. No feedback either!!!! Tried calling the direct line - recorded on my mobile when they called me, phone gets picked up and cut off (service for you)

After this mess, I will not be paying my next instalment - I can do without this service and this inefficiency.

My advise to others, please do not allow then to debit your account - if they can add charges onto one's account without your consent, can you image how many others are being billed for and are paying for services they have not requested

Dear Maliga Govender,

It is with regret that we learn of the frustration and inconvenience you have experienced with our service. Please accept our sincerest apologies in this regard.

Our intention is certainly not to provide a sub-standard service to our customers.

Currently the account is up to date, we had a technical problem on our billing side, and the system would reverse payments. This technical glitch has since been resolved.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that may have been caused.

The Access fee amount of R85.00 is for the PVR functions to access recordings also (rewind, pause, and fast forward). This also enables access to DStv Catch Up and Box Office.

The same amount would also be for an Extra View set up, should you acquire a second decoder, you will be charged the access fee at no additional subscription cost for an independent second viewing environment of the same package.

Our records do indicate previously the account was short paid, and the access fee amount was not included in your monthly subscription. This prompted the system to suspend the use of the PVR functions as this amount is for the PVR functions and other services performed by the decoder.

We review our subscription fees annually when we do our planning for our new financial year.

Your new monthly subscription will be R1138.00:

New fees as from 1 April 2018.

· R809.00 for the DStv Premium package.

· R90.00 Access fee for the PVR functions and additional services.

· R239.00 for DStv Indian add-on package.

On our system we have the following email address *** , we will escalate for the monthly statements to be emailed to this email. Should you wish for us to send them to a different email please confirm.

MultiChoice has announced that there will be no further increase to the prices announced for 2018, despite the change in the VAT rate from 14% to 15% announced by former Finance Minster Malusi Gigaba during the 2018 Budget Speech.

We have great news for our DStv customers – MultiChoice will absorb the 1% increase in VAT. We want to assist our customers by not increasing our prices further.

This means there will be no further change to our DStv fees that will come into effect on 1 April.

Please note that if calling our call centre for any advice/assistance is too much of an inconvenience to you, kindly also make use of our various contact points such as: e-mail - *** , or *** Social Media - twitter and Facebook. To use any of the self-service functionality we offer, please log onto www.dstv.com.

Please be assured of our best service and intentions at all times.

Kind regards,

Edward

DStv Hello Peter Team.

Hi Edward I am still not happy with this response regarding the account status. The account was in Credit at the time I came into your offices and I need to see my final statement with regards to the credit - we went back as far as May17 - (before the explorer issue) and established that each month the opening balance is in credit. I need confirmation as to what my next payment must be to bring the account to a "nil opening balance " each month. No explanation regarding my services being cut off in February even though I had the credit balance and why I kept getting sms's indicating short payments (and different amounts each time), despite my payment going through 2 days before the due date (i.e. payment of 5th of each month - and due date being the 7th of each month). Would also appreciate your response being copied to my email address as well. Maliga
