Unnecessary Channels
This is getting out of hand.<br> One now has to pay 850 to watch decent channels, which I understand. <br> <br> But what gets me is that we pay for channels that we do no watch I WILL NEVER WATCH THEM<br> A total of 44 channels this does not include the **** that will start on the 31st <br> Not to mention all the repeats. I don't mind throughout the month, but its going on for a couple of moths <br> specially all the repeats on the kiddies channel. For the past 3 years I have watched with my kids the same episodes day after day after day. Some times there will be a new episode, that is few and far between.<br> <br> So what are we actually paying for? The subscriptions does not warrant whats being aired.<br> I really think that DSTV should start thinking of giving the clients an option to choose their own channels. <br> Some times you have to \out with the old and in with the new"<br> You really do have all the viewers in a tight spot don't you. Every channel that is worth it is on premium which comes with 45 channels that are &*&^%^^.<br> <br> I really do not want a response from a general call center agent that thinks he knows something and might have an answer or an opinion. Someone from management and authority please. """
We confirm that repeats are integral to the business plans of pay TV channel providers and a necessary component in the multi-channel environment, for viewer convenience, as well as due to the manner in which movie rights are secured. To package a channel with fewer repeats would make the cost of the channel astronomical and thus not affordable for the DStv viewer.
MultiChoice does not produce nor create channels for the DStv bouquet. Our channels are purchased complete from the suppliers and are packaged into bouquets. MultiChoice works closely with channel suppliers to ensure that programming meets the quality standards required for a premium Pay-TV platform.
We encourage channel suppliers to spread the repeats as much as possible, but again they are limited by the license periods. The number of permissible repeats of a programme must play out within a certain fixed period of time. Furthermore, it is almost impossible for local and international suppliers to create a channel without a strategy of repeats.
