Unfair treatment from Dstv
I am unhappy with Dstv as a previous owner of the PVR decoder with their decision to phase out the product and replacing it with the explora, my dissatisfaction was due to the fact that the PVR had a dual view mode which can play 2 different TV's, so now since i had an insurance that covered the decoder I was given one Explora decoder which doesn't have that dual view functionality, and I have to buy a second decoder and some more additional equipments to cater for my 2 TV sets.l just feel that this is unfair to us the owners of the PVR decoders.

Unfortunately, our latest decoders are not Dual View compatible, but are Xtra View compatible. The technology that was used to manufacture Dual View decoders is no longer is use. DStv operates in a technologically evolving world, and there is always a need to stay innovative as well with our technology and devices to meet the demand and future expectations of our consumers.
The Dual View decoders like the SD PVR decoders are old devices which can no longer cope with the amount of services we have on offer. This device will start freezing and give technical problems. The hardware also cannot support the software we have hence we do not support these devices and recommend that they get swapped.
The Explora decoder has vast features which the SD PVR dual view decoder cannot perform. There is more recording hard drive space in the Explora decoder, High Definition picture quality in a lot of channels, more series and movies that can be loaded on the device, the device can connect to the Internet just to name a few features. The SD PVR decoder does have the capability to accommodate all of the above.
We encourage the swapping of these old model devices to ensure our customers continue to get quality entertainment from us and best viewing experience.
